Body Signs
I have always been fascinated by the human body, there’s so much to learn and comprehend about Body languages & Body scents,

Born in NY and raised in the southern part of Italy, I have had the luxury and the opportunity to experience two different worlds. What fascinated me the most is the diversity of people, not only the mentality, but all around. One of the things that stood out the most was how the medical professionals were able to detect what was wrong by just a glimpse of your skin, hair, nails and saliva. Even until today these methods are still practiced by some, recently, I ran into a homeopathic practitioner and had many conversations on the bodies’ symptoms, such as how lack of sleep can cause dark rings under the eyes, or it can be an underlying symptom of kidney trouble. What triggered this thought was an article regarding a dermatologist who reiterated what I had heard as a child growing up.

Until this day what never ceases to amaze me is that no matter how many modern methods of diagnosis come and go, some of the old natural methods stay tried and true for ages. Read on if U R interested to learn more on Body signals.

Nails:

When someone tells U to look at your nails what do U see?

Allow me to answer this way “Nails are one of the body parts that can often give the 1st indication of an underling disease or condition.

Many studies confirm a few things.

o         Yellow flaky nails, may be more than just an unsightly; they may be a sign of infection. An infection that may become painful or even spread. (Can be a lack of calcium, magnesium, Vit. D. & silica from Ur diet).  1 of the most common causes of yellowish nails is a fungal infection. As the infection worsens, the nail bed may retract & may thicken & crumble, in some cases, yellow nails can indicate a more serious condition such as sever thyroid disease or psoriasis.

o         Rippled. If the nail surface is rippled or pitted, this may be an early sign of psoriasis or inflammatory arthritis.

o         Ridges. According to one article it may indicate lack of calcium. Even though U R taking supplements the body is having a hard time assimilating it.

o         White Spots. May mean lack of Zinc or silica.

o         Curved. Nails that resemble the back of a teaspoon can indicate a lung, heart or liver problem. Crohns Disease – an inflammation of the small intestine that triggers pain & diarrhea.

o         Cracked, Brittle, has been linked to thyroid disease. Cracking or splitting combined with a yellowish hue is more likely due to a fungal infection.

o         Puffy nail Fold. If the skin around the nail appears red & puffy, this is known as inflammation of the nail fold. It may be the result of lupus or another connective tissue disorder.

o         Small pits in the nail. Psoriasis, a chronic skin condition that causes itching & burning.

o         Discolored nails that lift off the nail bed. Have a doctor take a culture of the nail before treatment. As many as 50% of discolored nails R misdiagnosed & mistreated.

o        Whitish or very pail, U could have anemia,  Congestive Heart Failure, Diabetes, Liver disease, Malnutrition.

o         White Nails. If the nails r mostly white with darker rims, this can indicate liver problems, such as hepatitis fingers appearing jaundiced is another indication of liver trouble.

o         Dark Lines beneath the nail. Should be investigated as soon as possible. They are sometimes caused by melanoma, the most dangerous type of skin cancer.

o         Streaked. A new or changing dark streak running the length of a nail & widening at the base can signal potentially deadly melanoma. If you’re dark skinned, you’re apt to have harmless dark pigment on your nails – but U still can get melanoma.

Our fingernails grow faster than our toenails. Nails grow approx 1/8th inch per month. Regeneration of lost fingernail occurs in 3 ˝ to 5 ˝ months. Regeneration of a lost toenail occurs in 6 – 8 months as long as the nail bed remains intact. As we age, the rate of growth of nails slows.
